On 02/26 at 1805, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 14000 block of Porterfield Highway. The first unit on the scene advised that the vehicle had heavy fire coming from the engine compartment. Two water cans and a commercial dry power extinguisher were used on the vehicle to knock down the flames, but it was still burning underneath. Due to this vehicle being at a convenience store with gas pumps, the pumps we shut off as a precautionary measure. When the Engine arrived, the fire in the vehicle was quickly extinguished. Chief 201, Utility 211, Battalion 209, Utility 210, Tanker 207, and Engine 204 responded along with units with the Washington County Life Saving Crew.
