The Abingdon Fire Department (AFD) was dispatched to the 200 block of Stone Mill Road for a reported Structure Fire at 15:43. Washington County Fire Rescue (WCFR) was dispatched as well for automatic mutual aid. Upon arrival on the scene, it was found that there was an apartment on fire with someone entrapped. Crews forced entry into the apartment and the crew was able to locate the homeowner and rescued them out of the house. The fire was extinguished, and overhaul operations were completed. The cause of the fire is under investigation. All units were able to clear and return to station.
