At 14:51, Abingdon Fire responded to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Reservoir and High Streets. The vehicle was an old ambulance that was being used as a service truck for a local garage. The fire started in the engine compartment and was the cab was destroyed. Two portable fire extinguishers were used to knock down the flames, but they could not put out the fire. Engine 201, Tanker 202, Utility 207 and Command 210 responded along with units from the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Abingdon Police Department.
