Vehicle Crash Through House – July 8, 2013

At 17:31, Abingdon Fire responded to a report of a vehicle that had run into a house. While enroute, reports were received that the driver was not hurt, but still trapped in his truck. Washington County Life Saving Crew used a wench on their Crash Truck to pull a toolbox that was wedged between the truck door and the wall of the garage to free the driver. The truck pushed a motorcycle and a freezer that were at the rear of the garage thru the wall. The hood of the pickup was extended thru the wall. Damage was extensive to the structure. Engine 201, Utility 207 and Command 209 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew, VA State Police and Appalachian Power. A wrecker was contacted to pull the truck from the garage.
