At 19:13, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident in the 15000 block of Chantilly Way. Upon arrival, the vehicle was on its side and the single occupant was trapped inside. Members of Fire and EMS worked to cut the top off the Blazer to free the driver. After driver was extracted from the vehicle, EMS felt that the injuries were severe enough to request MedFlight. A landing zone was established behind the Abingdon Bible Church. The driver was believed to have possible facial fractures. Engine 201, Utility 207, Brush 208, and Command 210 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew and VA State Police.
