At 16:56, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a 2 vehicle accident in the 14000 Block of Porterfield Highway. Per Va State Police, a vehicle going southbound hydroplaned due to wet roadways and crossed into the northbound lane and hit a vehicle in that lane. One vehicle ended up on its side. Some of the occupants of the vehicles were transported to JMH by EMS. Rescue Engine 205 and Chief 201 responded along with units of the Brumley Gap Fire Department. The location of the accident was in the Brumley Gap Response District. Washington County Life Saving Crew, Abingdon Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriffs’ Department and Virginia State Police also responded.
