At 11:43, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a three vehicle accident at the bottom of the Interstate 81 Exit 17 North bound off ramp. A truck was stopped at the traffic light, a car was in line behind the truck, when a third vehicle failed to stop and hit the second vehicle in line and thus pushed the second vehicle into the truck that was at the traffic light. A passenger in the second vehicle was injured along with the driver of the third vehicle. EMS treated on scene and transported to JMH. Engine 204, Utility 207 and Command 209 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew, Abingdon Ambulance Service, Abingdon Police Department, VA State Police, and Washington County Sheriffs’ Department.
