At 14:28, Abingdon Fire responded to a 2 vehicle accident near the 18.3 mile marker on Interstate 81 in the Northbound lane. One vehicle spun around and hit the guardrail so hard that it broke off a section of the asphalt. Both drivers were examined by Washington County Life Saving Crew and no transports were needed. One vehicle leaked a large amount of fluids in the roadway. Fire personnel provided clean-up of the fluids. Rescue Engine 205 and Battalion 209 responded along with the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Virginia State Police.
