At 20:03, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident in the 500 Block of East Main Street. The vehicle was Eastbound and veered off the roadway, hitting a utility pole and breaking it off at the base. Both driver and passenger refused medical treatment from Washington County Life Saving Crew. The pole was a Century-Link owned pole but had a streetlight on it owned by Appalachian Power. The streetlight was removed by AEP as the vehicle was being picked up by a local wrecker service. The pole was replaced the following day. Rescue Engine 205 and Battalion 209 responded along with the Abingdon Police Department and Washington County Life Saving Crew.
