At 21:03, Abingdon Fire worked a serious accident at the intersection of Main and Cummings Streets. A single vehicle coming northbound on Cummings veered to the left and struck a concrete retaining wall head on. The single occupant of the vehicle suffered major leg trauma and had to be extricated. Patient was then airlifted to Bristol Regional Medical Center by Wellmont 1 Helicopter. Engine 201, Brush 208, Utility 207, and Utility 206 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Abingdon Police.
