At 07:23, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a two vehicle accident in the 16000 Block of Porterfield Highway. A pickup truck traveling in the southbound lane was turning while in the passing lane when another pickup rear ended the truck that was turning. No occupants of either truck were transported by EMS. Chief 201, Battalion 209, Brush 208 and Utility 210 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew, Washington County Sheriffs’ Department, and Virginia State Police. Cleanup took about an hour due to heavy amounts of fluids and auto parts in the roadway.
