At 19:11, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a tree down at the intersection of Pecan Street and Plumb Alley. As result of the tree falling, several utilities were affected including electrical, tv cable, phone and internet. This was a huge tree that just fell, not affected by wind, but probably by the condition of the tree. Two utility poles were damaged by the fallen tree. Abingdon Fire, Washington County Life Saving Crew, Abingdon Police, Appalachian Power and Abingdon Public Works responded. Clean up and reconstruction extended for several days, due to heavy rain and flooding in the area.
