At 05:25, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a head-on collision on Jeb Stuart Highway, north of the Shallow Ford Bridge. Upon arrival, there were 2 vehicles involved. Vehicles did not hit head-on, but side-swiped each other. Drivers of both vehicles were transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital by Washington County Life Saving Crew and Abingdon Ambulance Service. Engine 201, Utility 207, and Command 209 responded. VA State Police investigated the incident and they were assisted by the Washington County Sheriffs’ Department.
