At 9:30, Abingdon Fire was alerted to an accident in the 13000 block of Porterfield Highway near the Holston River Bridge. A car had wrecked and a tractor trailer hauling large air tanks swerved to miss the car and two of the large tanks came off the truck and landed along the roadway. No injuries were reported. Chief 201, Battalion 209, and Rescue Engine 205 responded along with units from Brumley Gap Fire Department, Washington County Life Saving Crew, and Virginia State Police. Units remained on scene until the car and the tanks could be moved from the roadway.
