At 2038, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a fuel leak at the Truck Rest Area that dropped several gallons of diesel on both the Interstate and at the Truck Rest area. Several bags of oil dry were deployed to assist in in the cleanup. Washington County Fire Rescue assisted with oil dry and cleanup and a unit from Station 200 brought several bags of oil dry to the scene. Engine 201, Utility 207, Support 206, and Command 210 responded along with units from Washington County Fire Rescue, Washington County Life Saving Crew, and Virginia State Police.
