At 08:46, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a vehicle accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer. Fire units responded from a previous accident on Porterfield Highway. The tractor-trailer was headed North on Spring Creek Road after exiting Interstate 81 at Exit 13. The tractor-trailer made a left turn onto Lee Highway and overturned in the roadway. The driver was not injured and was able to exit the vehicle prior to our arrival. Chief 201, Rescue Engine 205, Rescue Engine 206, and Battalion 209 responded along with an ambulance from Washington County Fire/Rescue, Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Transportation and Washington County Life Saving Crew. Three heavy wreckers were brought in to upright the tractor-trailer.
