At 16:34, Abingdon Fire responded to a three-vehicle accident in the 15000 Block of Porterfield Highway. A pickup truck hit a car and then a box truck hit the pickup truck. At least 2 individuals were transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital by Abingdon Ambulance Service and Washington County Life Saving Crew. Fire personnel provided extensive cleanup of fluids and debris in the roadway. Chief 201, Rescue Engine 205, Brush 208 and Battalion 209, responded along with units from the Washington County Life Saving Crew, Abingdon Ambulance Service, and Virginia State Police.
