At 08:22, Abingdon Fire was requested to assist Meadowview Fire and Glade Spring Fire with a structure fire in the Emory community. The structure on Mount Calm Drive was reported to have two individuals trapped inside. Tower 203 was requested by Meadowview Fire and it responded with day shift personnel. The location of the structure was such that the Tower was not able to access the structure. Tanker 207 responded to assist with water supply from a hydrant at Patrick Henry High School. Tankers from Meadowview and Glade also participated in the water shuttle operation due to lack of hydrants in the area. Bodies of the two individuals were located later that afternoon.
