On Friday, January 22, 2021, at 01:37 Abingdon Fire and Green Spring Fire were dispatched to the 18000 block of Macedonia Road in reference to a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, the side and front of the structure were engulfed and had spread to the attic area. The fire had also spread to a small outbuilding, three vehicles, an ATV and a lawn mower in the yard. Damascus Fire was alerted for additional assistance. The residence was a total loss. The occupants were able to escape without injury and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Units from the Abingdon Fire Department, Damascus Fire Department, Green Spring Fire Department, and the Washington County, VA Life Saving Crew responded to the scene. The fire department performed a complete overhaul on the structure. At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
