At 0948, Abingdon Fire and Meadowview Fire were dispatched to a structure fire in the 200 Block of Jefferson Circle. First unit arriving noted heavy smoke showing from the roof on one of the residential units. A third alarm was requested for additional assistance from Green Spring Fire Department. The unit received heavy fire and smoke damage and the adjoining units received smoke damage. The roof of the unit that was on fire was vented to allow smoke and heat to escape the structure. Chief 201, Tower 203, Engine 204, Rescue Engine 206, Battalion 209, Utility 210 and Utility 211, responded along with units from Meadowview Fire, Green Spring Fire, Washington County Life Saving Crew, and Abingdon Police. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
