At 2329, Abingdon Fire was alerted to assist Meadowview Fire on a structure fire at Appalachian Cast Products in the 26000 block of Hillman Highway. A furnace had caught fire and had spread to the roof. Due to the intense heat of the furnaces, water cannot be used. Several dry chemical extinguishers were used to fight the fire. Chief 201, Chief 202, Tower 203, Tanker 207 and Utility 210 responded along with units of Meadowview Fire, Washington County Life Saving Crew. and Washington County Sheriff’s Department. All employees were evacuated safely and there were no reported injuries.
