Structure Fire on Cummings Street – August 7, 2012

At 05:44, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a report of smoke in the Taco Bell on Cummings Street. The fire appeared to be in the rear of the structure. Personnel entered a side door and found fire in the food preparation area and office. The fire is believed to have started in the electrical breaker box against the rear wall. There is heavy fire and smoke damage to the interior of the restaurant, and it appears from the amount of damage that there was a lot of heat buildup before restaurant personnel arrived to report the blaze. No injuries were reported. Engine 204, Tower 203, Tanker 202, Brush 208, and Command 209 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Abingdon Police.
