Porterfield Highway house fire
Firefighters from three local departments fight a house fire in the 14000 block of Porterfield Highway Wednesday afternoon.
ABINGDON, Va. — Firefighters are battling a house fire in Abingdon.
The fire was first reported around 1 p.m., and smoke and flames are still visible in parts of the structure. The home is located on a hill off of Porterfield Highway, in the 14000 block.
Abingdon Fire Department, Brumley Gap Volunteer Fire Department, Goodson-Kinderhook Volunteer Fire Department and the Washington County Lifesaving Crew are at the scene.
Crews are pumping water from a nearby creek onto the fire.
