At 11:21, Abingdon Fire responded to a single vehicle accident in the Southbound lane of Interstate 81 on the Exit 14 bridge. The accident occurred in the construction zone. The single occupant was transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital by the Washington County Life Saving Crew. Chief 201, Rescue Engine 205, Rescue Engine 206, Battalion 209 and Utility 210 responded along with the Washington County Life Saving Crew, Virginia State Police and Virginia Department of Transportation.
