At 21:52, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a sign on fire at the Cummings Street McDonald’s. The sign was not the main emblem sign, but a sign on the pole of the main sign. It was about 50 to 60 feet in the air. Engine 204 used the deck gun to reach the flames and extinguish the fire. The cause was probably electrical in nature. Engine 204, Tower 203, and Command 209 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Abingdon Police.
