At 17:07, Abingdon Fire was requested by the Damascus Fire Department for assistance on approximately 25-30 round hay bales on fire. The bales were also close to a barn. Many bales had to be rolled out to extinguish them. Tankers from Damascus and Abingdon shuttled water to the scene. Tanker 202, Utility 207, and Brush 208 responded along with units from Damascus Fire, Damascus Rescue, and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
