Residential Structure Fire on Glenview Drive – April 10, 2020

At 18:03, Abingdon Fire and Meadowview Fire were alerted to a structure fire on Glenview Drive in Abingdon. Upon arrival, Chief 201 requested an additional alarm from Green Spring Fire. The fire had a good start upon our arrival. The cause was believed to be a fire pit on a rear deck. Wind was believed to have pushed the fire from the pit into the structure. All residents were able to escape the structure. Tower 203 was used to flow water to the top of the structure and hand lines around the perimeter. Interior attack was limited due to the severity of the fire causing structural collapse of the roof and floors. The structure was a total loss. An excavator was brought in to demolish the part of the structure that was still smoldering to allow firefighters to extinguish the hot spots. Chief 201, Chief 202, Tower 203, Engine 204, Rescue Engine 206, Tanker 207 and Utility 210 responded along with units of Meadowview Fire, Green Spring Fire, Washington County Life Saving Crew, Abingdon Police, and Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
