At 2244, Abingdon Fire was alerted to an accident on Interstate 81 near Exit 13. Three vehicles were involved. The driver of a Honda Ridgeline had to be extricated and flown to Bristol Regional Medical Center by MedFlight. Chief 201, Chief 202, Rescue Engine 205, Rescue Engine 206, and Utility 210 responded along with units of Washington County Fire Rescue, Washington County Life Saving Crew, Abingdon Ambulance Service, Virginia State Police. and Virginia Department of Transportation.
