At 17:13, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Lee Highway, Fifteen Mile Boulevard and Falcon Place Boulevard. Upon arrival, there was a single vehicle in the middle of the intersection. The vehicle had been hit by another car that had left the scene. Extrication was performed to open the door. There was extensive investigation by the Virginia State Police in an attempt to locate the vehicle that had left the scene. An air chisel was used to cut a piece of the door off the vehicle that was hit. This metal piece had some paint from the vehicle that had left the scene, and this was given to the Virginia State Police. One person was transported by the Washington County Life Saving Crew to Johnston Memorial Hospital. Chief 202, Rescue Engine 205 and Battalion 209 responded along with units from the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Virginia State Police.
