At 1846, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a tractor-trailer fire at the Truck Rest Area on Interstate 81. Upon arrival, the fire was contained to the rear wheel and had been extinguished using portable fire extinguishers. Abingdon Fire personnel cooled down the wheel using a fog stream. Engine 204, Tanker 202, Utility 207 and Command 210 responded with the Va State Police and Washington County Life Saving Crew.
