At 0023, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a fire in a fryer at Long John Silvers on Cummings Street. Upon arrival, staff had extinguished the fire. Fire personnel disassembled the front of the fryer to check for addition problems. The fryer had just been serviced by an outside firm who had just left. They were called to return to the restaurant and make repairs. Engine 204, Command 209 and Command 210 responded, along with Washington County Life Saving Crew.
