At 0840, Abingdon Fire was notified of a possible structure fire with the report of someone inside. Upon arrival, smoke was seem coming from the structure. A interior search was conducted, finding a body downstairs. Heavy fire damage was found on the first floor with smoke damage upstairs. Smoke was removed from adjoining condos by fire personnel. Engine 204, Engine 201, Tanker 202, Utility 207, and Command 209 responded along with assistance of the Meadowview Fire Department and Washington County Fire Rescue. The Washington County Life Saving Crew provided assistance to fire personnel with rehab. Abingdon Police, Washington County Sheriffs’ Department, and VA State Police investigated the fire.
