At 14:58, Abingdon Fire was requested to assist Green Spring Fire Department in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving a dump truck in the 20000 Block of Spoon Gap Road. Rescue Engine 205, Battalion 209 and Utility 210 responded along with units from Green Spring Fire, Washington County Life Saving Crew and Virginia State Police. Upon arrival, the dump truck was observed leaking oil and other fluids into a nearby creek. Absorbent booms and pads were used to separate and remove the fluids from the water. Washington County Department of Emergency Services was contacted to assist with coordination of the cleanup. The injured driver was air lifted to Bristol Regional Medical Center by Virginia State Police Med-Flight.
