At 11:57, Abingdon Fire was alerted to an accident with reports of a truck turned over on the top of a car. Upon arrival, a storage box had come off a flatbed trailer and hit a vehicle. There were no injuries. Fortunately, the storage box was empty. The call was actually South of Exit 13, so Washington County Fire Rescue was alerted. When they arrived, command functions were turned over to them and Abingdon units cleared the scene. Chief 201, Rescue Engine 205 and Battalion 209 responded along with units from the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Virginia State Police.
