At 1538, Abingdon Fire Department was dispatched to an accident at 17646 Jeb Stuart Highway involving a dump truck, pickup truck, and a passenger car. An occupant in one of the vehicles was transported by Med-Flight to Bristol Regional Medical Center. Engine 201. Brush 208, Utility 207, and Command 209 responded along with Washington County Life Saving Crew and the Virginia State Police. Both lanes of traffic were blocked due to the accident. All units cleared the accident about 1500.
