A project by the membership of the Abingdon Fire Department continues. A cargo trailer; donated by First Community Bank, is being equipped to respond to hazardous spills as time and funding permits. A local trailer manufacturer; Utility Trailer, donated some aluminum flooring and lighting used in their manufacturing process. The flooring has been installed in the trailer along with some donated shelving. The lights have been installed and 960 pounds of absorbent has been added to the trailer. Although available to respond to incidents now, much more equipment will be installed in the future to aid in spill incidents in our Town and Washington County.
