On December 11, Abingdon Fire Department held its annual Christmas Dinner at The Abingdon Moose Club Building. A combination of current members, former members, spouses and special guests attended. After a delicious meal, awards were given to the current members. Those who participated in training this year were awarded their certificates. Engineer Bobby Fields was awarded the “Firefighter of the Year” for 2021. A special lifesaving award (first ever) was given to Chief John McCormick for preforming CPR on an individual at his church. Due to his actions, this individual is still with us. As normal during these events, we were toned out for a vehicle accident in the Greendale area. Members that responded were back soon and the program continued. A visit by Santa concluded the nice evening.
