| Emergency Landing for Plane at VA Highlands Airport |
Sat. Jul 10th 2010
At 11:14, Abingdon Fire Department was dispatched to a plane that had already landed at Va Highlands Airport without its landing gear. The plane left a mark on the runway over 1000 feet. The Airport was closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted by the VA State Police. A crane was dispatched to lift the plane so the landing gear could be deployed manually and then it was towed off the runway for repairs. Engine 204, Tanker 202, Utility 207 and Command 210 responded along with the Washington County Life Saving Crew.
