At 1735, Abingdon Fire and Meadowview Fire were alerted to a structure fire in the 20000 Block of Colanade Drive. Upon arrival, heavy fire and smoke were noted in the garage end of the residential structure. Another alarm was sounded to obtain assistance from Washington County Fire Rescue. High winds hampered the firefighting efforts. The structure was a total loss and no injuries were reported. Red Cross was on hand to assist the family. Chief 201, Chief 202, Battalion 209, Engine 204, Tanker 207 and Utility 210 responded along with units from Meadowview Fire, Washington County Fire Rescue, Washington County Life Saving Crew, and Abingdon Police.

The Town of Abingdon Fire Department uses the KEYSECURE master key security system to control the KNOX-BOX master key. The KEYSECURE master key security system provides accountability with an audit trail giving the date, time and user ID for each key release.
Building entrance keys, access cards and floor plans can be stored in the high-security KNOX-BOX mounted near the building entrance. The KNOX-BOX is purchased by the property owner and is keyed to a single master key controlled by the Town of Abingdon Fire Department.
