At 2329, Abingdon Fire was alerted to assist Meadowview Fire on a structure fire at Appalachian Cast Products in the 26000 block of Hillman Highway. A furnace had caught fire and had spread to the roof. Due to the intense heat of the furnaces, water cannot be used. Several dry chemical extinguishers were used to fight the fire. Chief 201, Chief 202, Tower 203, Tanker 207 and Utility 210 responded along with units of Meadowview Fire, Washington County Life Saving Crew. and Washington County Sheriff's Department. All employees were evacuated safely and there were no reported injuries.

At 1735, Abingdon Fire and Meadowview Fire were alerted to a structure fire in the 20000 Block of Colanade Drive. Upon arrival, heavy fire and smoke were noted in the garage end of the residential structure.

At 1041, Abingdon Fire was alerted to an accident around mile marker 18 in the northbound lane of Interstate 81. Three vehicles were involved. A car involved landed upside down in a ditch. The driver was not injured and was able to climb out on her own.

At 2244, Abingdon Fire was alerted to an accident on Interstate 81 near Exit 13. Three vehicles were involved. The driver of a Honda Ridgeline had to be extricated and flown to Bristol Regional Medical Center by MedFlight.

At 1704, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 81 at the 15.7mile marker. The vehicle had veered off the roadway and hit a rock outcropping in the median. Vehicle was reported to be on fire at the time of dispatch, but no fire was observed upon our arrival.

At 0352, Abingdon Fire was alerted to an accident on Interstate 81 in the northbound lane near Exit 14. Two tractor trailers collided, blocking both northbound lanes. The drivers were transported to Bristol Regional Hospital and Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Abingdon Fire responded to a structure fire in the 18000 block of Lee Highway. Upon arrival, there was heavy fire coming from the structure. A total of two adults and five children lived in the structure, which was totally destroyed.

At 1901, Abingdon Fire and Green Springs Fire were alerted to a structure fire off Denton Valley Road on Banjo Drive. Flames were visible when first units arrived on the scene. Damascus Fire was then alerted for addition help.

At 1300, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a tractor trailer hitting a tree at the intersection of Oakland Street and Lowry Drive. The tree was at a very steep roadway intersection and when the truck made the turn, it struck the tree and split the trailer hauling paint in half.

At 1744, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a truck accident at the top of the Exit 17 northbound onramp .A box truck was laying on its side. This truck blocked both of the northbound lanes with heavy fuel spillage on the roadway.

At 9:30, Abingdon Fire was alerted to an accident in the 13000 block of Porterfield Highway near the Holston River Bridge. A car had wrecked and a tractor trailer hauling large air tanks swerved to miss the car and two of the large tanks came off the truck and landed along the roadway.

At 2058, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Cummings Street and Fairway Drive. A state police cruiser was attempting to pass a vehicle while responding to a call.

At 1244, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a tractor trailer on fire at the Truck Rest Area between Exits 13 and 14 on Interstate 81. Engine 204 and Tanker 207 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew and Virginia State Police.

At 1534, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a four vehicle accident on Interstate 81. The accident occurred in the southbound lane about the 17 mile marker. Two cars and two tractor trailers were involved. The vehicles involved all had sufficient damage that required them to be towed.
