At 09:29, Abingdon Fire was advised of a vehicle fire next to an apartment complex in the 16000 Block of Millsap Lane. Upon arrival, fire was observed in the engine area and neighbors were assisting with the extinguishment using a garden hose.

At 08:52, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the 14.2 mile marker in the Northbound passing lane on Interstate 81. Upon arrival, a motorcycle and a car were involved with heavy damage to the rear of the car.

At 00:12, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a vehicle accident on Interstate 81 with reported entrapment and fire. Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished by law enforcement. The single occupant in the vehicle had to be extricated by fire personnel.

At 15:15, Abingdon Fire responded to a two-vehicle accident in the front of the Washington County School Board Office. Two individuals were transported by Washington County Life Saving Crew. Traffic in the area was complicated by vehicles leaving Abingdon High School from the first day of classes.

At 08:11, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident with possible entrapment in the 23000 block of Watauga Road. Upon arrival, it was determined a tandem dump truck hauling gravel, traveling westbound, had flipped and ended up on its side, with the gravel in the roadway.

At 10:41, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the bottom of the Southbound Off Ramp of Interstate 81. Heavy flames were visible upon our arrival. Fire was quickly extinguished and traffic on the ramp resumed as soon as cleanup was completed.

On 04/24 at 04:15, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident on Whites Mill Road, just before the Chip Ridge Road intersection. The vehicle was traveling toward Abingdon when it left the roadway, rolled over, and went through a fence; ending up on its wheels.

At 16:46, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a structure fire on Old Russell Road. Rescue Engine 206, Chief 201, and Battalion 209 responded to find a shrub had been on fire and caused the fire to enter the structure through the vinyl soffit.

KNOX-BOX is a key safe mounted outside that can be unlocked only by the Town of Abingdon Fire Department. This is a voluntary alternative to forced entry, delayed entry or no entry when the Town of Abingdon Fire Department is called to your business or home for a fire alarm activation. The Town of Abingdon Fire Department is one of more than 11,500 departments in North America to use the KNOX-BOX RAPID ENTRY SYSTEM.
The Town of Abingdon Fire Department uses the KEYSECURE master key security system to control the KNOX-BOX master key. The KEYSECURE master key security system provides accountability with an audit trail giving the date, time and user ID for each key release.
Building entrance keys, access cards and floor plans can be stored in the high-security KNOX-BOX mounted near the building entrance. The KNOX-BOX is purchased by the property owner and is keyed to a single master key controlled by the Town of Abingdon Fire Department.
