At 08:52, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the 14.2 mile marker in the Northbound passing lane on Interstate 81. Upon arrival, a motorcycle and a car were involved with heavy damage to the rear of the car.

At 00:12, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a vehicle accident on Interstate 81 with reported entrapment and fire. Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished by law enforcement. The single occupant in the vehicle had to be extricated by fire personnel.

At 15:15, Abingdon Fire responded to a two-vehicle accident in the front of the Washington County School Board Office. Two individuals were transported by Washington County Life Saving Crew. Traffic in the area was complicated by vehicles leaving Abingdon High School from the first day of classes.

Abingdon Fire was alerted at 14:47 to assist Meadowview Fire and Glade Spring Fire on a fire in an abandoned structure at the intersection of Old Salt Works Road and Moore Creek Road. Upon our arrival, the fire was under control with a few hot spots remaining.

At 18:08, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Lee Highway and Fifteen Mile Boulevard. Fire personnel contained fluids leaked from the vehicles and cleared the roadway of vehicle debris.

At 02:48, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a structure fire in a single family dwelling in the 300 block of Jamison Street. The fire damage was contained to the kitchen and the remainder of the structure suffered smoke damage.

At 08:11, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident with possible entrapment in the 23000 block of Watauga Road. Upon arrival, it was determined a tandem dump truck hauling gravel, traveling westbound, had flipped and ended up on its side, with the gravel in the roadway.

At 20:27, Abingdon Fire responded to a single vehicle accident on the 27000 Block of Rivermont Drive. Driver indicated she was attempting to avoid hitting a deer, ran up on a bank beside the roadway, and flipped.

At 07:23, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a two vehicle accident in the 16000 Block of Porterfield Highway. A pickup truck traveling in the southbound lane was turning while in the passing lane when another pickup rear ended the truck that was turning.

At 10:41, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the bottom of the Southbound Off Ramp of Interstate 81. Heavy flames were visible upon our arrival. Fire was quickly extinguished and traffic on the ramp resumed as soon as cleanup was completed.

On 04/24 at 04:15, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident on Whites Mill Road, just before the Chip Ridge Road intersection. The vehicle was traveling toward Abingdon when it left the roadway, rolled over, and went through a fence; ending up on its wheels.

At 08:02, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a multiple vehicle accident on Porterfield Highway. It was reported that a school bus had stopped on the highway and several vehicles behind the bus failed to stop in the south bound lane.

At 16:46, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a structure fire on Old Russell Road. Rescue Engine 206, Chief 201, and Battalion 209 responded to find a shrub had been on fire and caused the fire to enter the structure through the vinyl soffit.

Abingdon Fire and Damascus Fire were alerted to a Structure Fire at 03:05 on Fisher Hollow Road in Damascus. A storage building was totally involved upon arrival. The nearby house suffered some damage to the vinyl siding with the intense heat.

At 11:19, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a vehicle accident involving 3 cars in the 200 Block of West Valley Street. The maroon car veered off Valley Street and struck two parked vehicles. The were no injuries.

Abingdon Fire was alerted to a Structure Fire on Laura Lee Court at 14:55 in the western end of Abingdon. It was determined that lightening struck the structure during an intense storm. The residents were out of town when this occurred.
